I hate waste! I love recycling, upcycling, and repurposing! I adore antiques in general and really appreciate both their beauty and history. Come see what treasures I've found and what I've done with them. Here I'll include items found at second-hand shops and tag sales, or right in my own home. Vintage items too...
Here are a few recent finds at my local Goodwill:
Just love these little wooden spoons! They're bowl-shaped and came in their original packaging. Produced in the 1940s by a Tupper Lake, NY company which also made popsicle sticks and the like. Not sure what I'll use them for, yet. The basket is only about 6" x 6" x 12". Very cute and just begging to hold some yarn.
You probably won't notice the ink marks, gouges, and gaps in the "before" pic of what served as my parents' telephone desk for years. I intended to donate it, but a quick sand, stain and varnish provided us with a much-needed computer desk / craft storage. The piece is really unusual in it's construction (think along the lines of "tramp art") with it's inlaid top. The inner walls are composed of (recycled!) wooden boxes bearing the name of a linen company.
This is a good example of reuse: a vintage turtle that used to grace my mom's garden now finds a home in our terrarium!
